BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are a selection of shows available in Beijing in the coming week:

The Eight Seconds Choir of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music

Date: Aug. 8

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Concert Hall, National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA)

Introduction:

Founded in 2009, The Eight Seconds Choir of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music consists of a mixed-voice group, female voice group, male voice group and chamber orchestra. With their strong command of Chinese and foreign classics of different periods and with multiple styles, the Eight Seconds Choir achieves unique and accurate interpretations of many new works.

In the first three years since its establishment, it won more than 20 gold medals. In 2012, it transformed from a contestant troupe to performance troupe.

Teatro alla Scala Le Corsaire

Dates: Aug. 8-9

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Opera House, National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

The Ballet Company of Teatro alla Scala has a glorious past dating back to the centuries prior to the opening in 1778 of the world's most celebrated musical theater, which is still its home today. Even before the founding of the Imperial-Royal Academy of Ballet of La Scala in 1813, eminent choreographers such as Gasparo Angiolini and Salvatore Vigano held great influence over European ballet. Then, the illustrious teacher and theorist, Carlo Blasis, introduced the ballet into the Romanticist atmosphere, thus contributing to the technical innovation of its style.

Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir

Date: Aug. 9

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Concert Hall, National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

The Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir was founded in 1972 and, through the efforts of its conductors, has put together an extensive repertoire and cultivated a reputation. It has participated in various international choral festivals.

Hungarian Dance Drama Let Love Win

Dates: Aug. 10-11

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Theatre, National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

The Attraction Shadow Theatre from Hungary is touring China for the first time with its new dance drama "Let Love Win." Following a boy's growth from his youth into adulthood, the story examines the relationship between father and son.
