Ballet: Bright Red Star

Date: Aug. 13-14

Time: 8 p.m.

Place: Shenzhen Poly Theatre

Introduction:

"Sparkling Red Star" is an acclaimed Chinese revolutionary film since its release in 1974. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, this screen classic has been remade by the Shanghai Ballet.

Guan Shanyue and Paintings of Three Gorges in Modern Times

Date: until Sept. 26

Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., closed on Monday

Place: Guan Shanyue Art Museum

Introduction:

The Yangtze River has always been an object of focus for the literati and calligraphers in the past, as well as an important subject for painters to express. Based on the Guan Shanyue's paintings depicting the Three Gorges, Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum have launched an exhibition -- "Ten Thousand Ranges of Hills Left Behind: Guan Shanyue and Paintings of Three Gorges in Modern Times."

Paestum: A City of the Ancient Mediterranean

Date: until Oct. 13

Time: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., closed Mondays

Place: Shenzhen Nanshan Museum

Introduction:

Paestum, located in the southeast of Naples, occupies an important position in the history of Western culture. The three civilizations of ancient Greece, Lucania and Rome met in Paestum, providing an opportunity for scholars to reveal the origin of Western architectural history. With artifacts provided by the Paestum Archaeological Park in Italy, the exhibition showcases 134 exquisite artifacts from the park, including frescos, statues, architectural parts, painted pottery and bronze.
