Teatro alla Scala Giselle

Introduction:

With a glorious past dating back centuries, the Ballet Company of Teatro alla Scala brings this tale of love, betrayal and redemption that unfolds a destiny shift between a country girl and a mournful ghost on stage.

Praised as the "crown of ballet," the romantic masterpiece has formed a strong dramatic conflict between the bright world and the dark ghost kingdom, which still touches the audience with its estheticism and sorrow.

NCPA August Chorus Festival 2019 Closing Concert: VOCES8

Date: August 11

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Concert Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

The British vocal ensemble VOCES8 is now established as one of the world's most versatile and best-loved singing groups. Touring extensively throughout Europe, North America and Asia, the ensemble performs a repertory from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary commissions and arrangements.

NCPA International Children's Theatre Festival 2019, Children's Play from France POPOPOLSKA

Date: August 16-18

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Multi-functional Theatre, National Centre for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

Four "Toy Music" artists edit four short Polish animations and perform the melancholy, lively and illusive animation soundtrack through visual imaginations. In addition to the traditional toy piano, xylophone, vibraphone and flute, unexpected cute musical instruments and effects such as accordion, old gramophone, small electric guitar and the ukulele are also added.

In these animations, the roles include a striped elephant with his friends, a dreaming boy and a multi-lingual puppy. The artists make the best of the soundtrack to let these lifelike roles create a dialogue with the audiences.

French musical Notre Dame De Paris 20th anniversary edition

Date: August 15-18 7:30 p.m. (one more at 2:00 p.m. on weekends)

Venue: Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center

Introduction:

Adapted from Victor Hugo's classic, "Notre Dame de Paris" is a magnificent and tragic epic woven by "fate," in 1482, telling the tragic story of Quasimodo, a hunchbacked bell-ringer in Notre Dame raised by Judge Claude Frollo, and Esmeralda, a gypsy girl.

It was Hugo's novel "Notre Dame de Paris" that caused such a stir that the French government and people wanted to rebuild the dilapidated cathedral. Renovation work began in 1844 and took more than 20 years to restore the past halo.
