1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares end lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.63 percent to end at 2,797.26 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.85 percent lower at 8,902.63 points.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two indices stood at 339.7 billion yuan (about 48.3 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 362.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,043 to 380 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,549 to 546 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the sectors of gold and airport were among the biggest gainers, with Shenyang Cuihua Gold and Silver Jewelry Co., Ltd. seeing its share price rise by the daily 10-percent limit to 10.23 yuan a share.

Shenzhen Airport Co., Ltd. saw its share price rise by the daily 10-percent limit to 10.43 yuan a share.

Shares related to mobile payment, electronic sports, titanium dioxide and securities concept led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.01 percent to close at 1,524.36 points. Enditem
