DUBAI, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Arab coalition on Tuesday said the "Iranian-backed" Houthi militias launched a drone from Sanaa that landed on civilians in Yemen's Amran province, according to Al Arabiya TV.

"The Houthis repeatedly lie by claiming to have targeted the the Saudi Abha airport," said Col. Turki Al Malki, the Arab coalition forces' official spokesman in a press briefing on Tuesday.

He noted that the drone landed 35 km after it had been launched in the province of Amran on civilians' areas.

Houthis have recently stepped up drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, but most of the drones were intercepted by the kingdom's air forces.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally-recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Enditem
