TRIPOLI -- Libyan navy said Monday that 37 illegal immigrants have been rescued off the country's western coast.

"A search and rescue coast guards patrol received a distress call and rescued 37 illegal immigrants on a rubber boat," said Ayob Qassem, the navy's spokesman. (Libya-Immigrants)

CAIRO -- An Egyptian court sentenced on Monday six defendants to death and 41 others to life in prison over terror charges, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

The court also sentenced seven defendants to 15 years in jail while a juvenile defendant was handed a three-year sentence. (Egypt-Terror-Court)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Monday that the Islamic republic is not interested in talks with the United States over a new agreement on the country's nuclear program, official IRNA news agency reported.

As for the mediation attempts between Washington and Tehran, Zarif said that any mediation should focus on "how the United States returns to its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal." (Iran-U.S.-Nuke Deal)

ANKARA -- Turkey's Interior Ministry on Monday dismissed three mayors of the opposition People's Democratic Party (HDP) in eastern and southeastern Turkey over alleged terror links.
