BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key culture news from the past week:
-- Guideline issued to promote cultural, tourism consumption
China has issued a guideline to advance cultural and tourism spending, calling for efforts to deepen supply-side reform in cultural and tourism industries and further unleash consumption potential.
The guideline, issued by the State Council General Office, demands measures taken to upgrade scenic sites' facilities and improve their services, including designing better tour routes and promoting online reservation in the country.
-- Beijing int'l book fair opens
The 26th Beijing International Book Fair opened Wednesday.
More than 2,600 exhibitors are taking part, displaying over 300,000 books. Some 1,600 overseas exhibitors from 95 countries and regions, including 30 countries along the Belt and Road, are taking part.
-- Sci-fi blockbuster "The Wandering Earth" among China's "Best Works Award" winners
Chinese sci-fi blockbuster "The Wandering Earth" is among the winners of the 15th "Best Works Awards," which include 73 films, TV series, plays, radio dramas, songs and books.
Adapted from a short novel of the same name by Hugo Award winner Liu Cixin, the 2019 film posted 4.6 billion yuan (650 million U.S. dollars) of box office revenue on the Chinese mainland, becoming China's second biggest grossing movie of all time. Enditem
