DAMASCUS -- The Syrian air defenses intercepted "targets" over the capital Damascus on Saturday night, state news agency SANA said.

The air defenses intercepted "enemy targets" in the sky over Damascus, said the report, adding that most of missiles were intercepted before reaching their targets. (Syria-Israel)

TRIPOLI -- Three civilians were killed on Saturday in an airstrike in the south of the Libyan capital of Tripoli, a military source said.

KHARTOUM -- The Sudanese Health Ministry said on Saturday that 60 people have been killed and 101 others wounded because of rains and floods across the country.

BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi forces on Saturday killed four Islamic State (IS) militants during the first day of the fourth phase of a major offensive to hunt down remnants of IS militants in the desert of Iraq's western province of Anbar, the Iraqi military said.

The Iraqi army and Hashd Shaabi paramilitary fighters clashed with IS militants at an area located in western Anbar province, leaving two IS militants killed and four others captured, a statement by the Iraqi Defense Ministry said. (Iraq-IS) Enditem
