GUANGZHOU, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are shows and exhibitions available in Guangzhou in the coming week:

Ballet: Bright Red Star

Date: Aug. 25 to 26

Time: Aug. 25, 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 26, 8 p.m.

Venue: Guangdong Arts Theatre

Introduction:

Based on a classical Chinese revolutionary film of the same name released in 1974, the ballet was remade by the Shanghai Ballet in 2018. The lighting, stage design and costumes have all added modern elements, catering to the aesthetic tastes of the contemporary audience.

Ukrainian Electronic Band ONUKA Concert

Date: Aug. 29

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Experimental Theatre, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

Onuka, an electronic band from Ukraine, was founded in 2013 by Ukrainian musicians Yevhen Filatov and Nata Zhyzhchenko. They give new life to traditional music and national instruments that had disappeared in the Soviet era.

Woodwind Quintet by Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Date: Aug. 31

Time: 3 p.m.

Venue: Experimental Theatre, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is one of the five best-known symphony orchestras in the United States with outstanding performances. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra woodwind quintet consists of a flutist, an oboist, a clarinetist, a bassoonist and a horn player. They will bring an exciting show to Chinese audiences.

Georgian Treasure by Erisioni

Date: Sept. 1

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Opera Hall, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

"Georgian Treasure" is produced by Georgian state national singing and dancing academic ensemble Erisioni. It performs folk songs and dances from all over Georgia, reflecting the ethnic and local customs of the Georgian people. Enditem
