KHARTOUM -- Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok on Thursday announced the formation of the transitional cabinet, the first since the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir.

CAIRO -- Senior officials from the Cairo-based Arab League (AL) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) discussed on Thursday a UAE-led initiative to enhance Arab space cooperation.

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi forces on Thursday killed five Islamic State (IS) militants in an operation and an airstrike in the central province of Salahudin, a military statement and a police source said.

Acting on intelligence reports, the ninth brigade of the paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces, backed by the Iraq army's helicopter gunships, carried out an operation near the town of al-Dour in southeast of the provincial capital Tikrit, some 170 km north of Baghdad, the Hashd Shaabi said in a statement. SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said that they fired multiple ballistic missiles at Najran airport and launched drone attacks on King Khalid Air Base in the southwest of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.
