First China-made polar expedition cruise ship delivered

NANJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The first China-made cruise ship for polar expeditions was delivered to its U.S. customer Friday in Haimen, eastern China's Jiangsu Province.
The 104.4-meters long vessel is 18.4 meters at the beam. It can operate at a speed up to 16.3 knots. It has 135 cabins, which can accommodate 254 people on board.
The ship, named "Greg Mortimer," was delivered to Sunstone Ships Inc. by shipbuilder China Merchants Group. Sunstone, the world's leading provider of expedition vessels, has ordered 10 of the cruise liners from the Chinese shipbuilder.
Sunstone has rented out the vessel to an Australian polar expedition company, which will make its 12-day maiden voyage soon after the delivery.
The shipbuilding started in March 2018.
The Chinese shipbuilder has accepted orders for seven polar cruise ships and three medium-sized cruise ships. Enditem
