RABAT, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A Brazilian woman was detained on Saturday at Casablanca Mohammed V international airport, after 3.11 kg of cocaine were found hidden under her belt and underwear.

According to a statement of Moroccan National Police, the woman, 24, arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She was arrested while waiting at the airport transit hall for a connecting flight to Toulouse in France, added the statement.

She was transferred to Casablanca University Hospital to ensure that she did not have drug capsules in her stomach, before a judicial investigation, it added.

The traffickers of cocaine have developed new routes to Europe over the past decade, mainly via Morocco.

According to Moroccan authorities, the country witnessed in recent years an increase of cocaine seizures, including 541 kg of cocaine in a container from Latin America which arrived in Casablanca in February 2018. Enditem
