CHENGDU, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and 53 others were injured after a 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Weiyuan County of Neijiang City in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, the local government said.
Fourteen of the hospitalized injured people have since been discharged from hospital, authorities with the emergency management bureau of Neijiang said.
A total of 1,133 people have been affected by the quake, and 823 people have been relocated. A total of 86 houses collapsed after the quake, the bureau said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was monitored at 29.55 degrees north latitude and 104.79 degrees east longitude, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
