Int'l wine expo opens in southwest China

GUIYANG, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The 9th China (Guizhou) International Wine Expo kicked off on Monday in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.

A total of 1,038 Chinese liquor and wine businesses including Kweichow Moutai and Wuliangye, as well as more than 16,000 buyers from home and abroad, attended the expo, which will last until Thursday.

With 3,000 booths in eight exhibition halls covering an exhibition area of 92,000 square meters, this year's expo has attracted more than 2,000 exhibitors from China and over 40 countries and regions including the United States, France, Japan, Russia and Italy.

Renowned wines and Chinese alcohol have been set up throughout the exhibition halls, as well as exhibits showcasing the alcohol industry chain and wine-related culture, tourism, Internet and finance.

The exhibitors also include enterprises from Piedmont, Bordeaux, Ontario, California and other top wine-producing regions around the globe.

Italy, as the guest of honor, will hold a forum on Italian wine and promotional events of Italian grand crus during the event.

Launched in 2011, the wine expo is aimed at promoting exchanges and cooperation of the world's wine industry and has become an important platform for trade and investment of alcoholic beverages. Enditem
