BEIRUT, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker emphasized Monday the importance of preserving Lebanon's security, stability and sovereignty, the National News Agency reported.
Schenker's remarks came during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Schenker arrived in Lebanon on Monday for a two-day official visit where he will meet with Lebanese officials to discuss several topics including the demarcation of maritime borders between Lebanon and Israel.
Lebanon has an unresolved maritime border with Israel that involves a triangular sea area.
The United States mediated between the two countries to end the dispute over maritime borders but failed to reach any positive results. Enditem
