1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the industrial hemp and agricultural planting sectors leading the gain.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.12 percent to close at 3,021.2 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.37 percent lower at 9,964.93 points.

The combined trading volume of stocks in the two indexes shrank to 696.3 billion yuan (about 98.3 billion U.S. dollars) from 716 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 706 to 685 on the Shanghai bourse and gainers outnumbered losers by 1,051 to 982 in Shenzhen.

Companies in industrial hemp sectors mostly gained, with the share price of Sanlux Co., Ltd. jumping by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 6.34 yuan per share.

Meanwhile, companies related to eletronic manufacturing and semiconductor led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.46 percent to close at 1,725.31 points. Enditem
