BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The following is a list of major shows, concerts, exhibitions and events in China for Thursday, Sept. 12:

-- David Hockney exhibition

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location: M Woods Art Community, Beijing

In collaboration with the Tate gallery of Britain, the exhibition showcases over 100 masterpieces of David Hockney from the 1950s until present day, including his renowned paintings A Bigger Splash and My Parents. The exhibits also feature a diversity of mediums Hockney have been engaged with in recent years, such as photography and digital techniques.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in the 20th century, David Hockney was born in Bradford, Yorkshire of Britain, and studied at the city's school of art before winning international acclaim for his work. He now lives in Los Angeles, the United States.

-- Musical "Evita"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: SAIC Shanghai Culture Square, Shanghai

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the musical concentrates on the life of former Argentine first lady Eve Peron, the second wife of the country's former President Juan Peron.

-- Ballet "Jewels"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: Tianqiao Theater, Beijing

Performed by China's Central Ballet Troupe, this version of "Jewels" interprets the trilogy from dance innovator George Balanchine. The ballet consists of three acts - Emerals, Rubies, and Diamonds, which respectively pays homage to the French, American and Russian styles of ballet dancing. Enditem
