GAZA, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli army artillery shelled northern Gaza Strip on Wednesdays, causing no injuries, in response to the rockets fired into southern Israel Tuesday night, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said.

Security sources in Gaza said that the artillery shell targeted a military post that belongs to the armed wing of Islamic Hamas movement in east of the town of Lahia in northern Gaza Strip.

No injuries were reported, except for physical damage to the target location, according to Palestinian medical and security sources.

The shelling came shortly after the Israeli army announced that three rockets were fired from the coastal enclave and landed near the towns of Ashdod and Ashkelon. Enditem
