BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The following is a list of major shows, concerts, exhibitions and events in China for Monday, Sept. 16:

-- Opera "The Magic Flute"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: National Library Arts Center, Beijing

A modern version of Wolfgang Mozart's masterpiece "The Magic Flute" featuring Chinese and German opera singers, the opera made its debut in Germany in August 2019.

The abridged one-hour singspiel, which is geared specifically toward children, retains most of the classic parts of the original work and will offer young audiences a delightful taste of opera.

-- Screening of ballet "The Nutcracker"

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Huangpu Theater, Shanghai

"The Nutcracker" is among the most celebrated works of Russian master composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. With the libretto adapted from German writer E. T. A. Hoffmann's fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," the ballet highlights a young girl's Christmas adventure in a magical kingdom.

Captured live from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, "The Nutcracker" has been screened at theaters around the world.

-- Live-action show "Enduring Memories of Hangzhou"

Time: 7:45 p.m.

Location: No. 86 Beishan Rd, West Lake District, Hangzhou

Set on the water of the West Lake, the live-action performance is more like a concert integrating China's best-known classical and folk music with a violin concerto, symphony and popular music.

With the art of dance and visual effects aligning with the music, the show demonstrates the profound and charming Chinese culture.

Directed by Chinese director Zhang Yimou, it was originally performed at the G20 Hangzhou Summit in east China's Zhejiang Province in 2016. Enditem
