PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai 2019

Date: Sept. 20 to 22

Venue: Shanghai Exhibition Center

Introduction:

With 50 plus contemporary photo galleries from around the region displaying their artists' work, PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai 2019 is an eye-catching exhibition in town. It is dedicated strictly to the photographic medium, and is now in its sixth year.

An Individual Soliloquy By Yabin Studio

Date: Sept. 20 and 21

Venue: Shanghai International Dance Center

Introduction:

Award-winning Chinese dancer, choreographer and producer Wang Yabin has received international acclaim for her combination of classical and contemporary dances. This time she choreographed this piece of work jointly with Shintaro Hirahara from Japan. "An Individual Soliloquy" recounts story of Kumarajiva, an incomparable translator who translated over half of all Buddhist texts from Sanskrit to Chinese. Other artists working on the creative team of this production include those from China, Britain and France.

This photographic exhibition brings the award-winning work of Martin Schoeler to Shanghai. Known for his hyper-detailed close-ups of famous and influential figures, Schoeler's work presents the question of honest and genuine self-portraits in this age of beautifying filters and Snapchat dysmorphia.
