BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

HUAWEI PROGRAM

A total of 30 university students from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica are in China for a training program offered by tech giant Huawei.

The program, called "Seeds for the Future," is aimed at spreading knowledge, increasing awareness of and interest in information and communication technology, and encouraging broad participation in digital communities, according to the company.

UNMANNED SHIP

China has built the first test base for unmanned ships, which will be operational at the end of this year, according to the Science and Technology Daily Monday.

The test base named Xiangshan Marine Scientific & Technological Port is located in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. It will create an innovation platform for the design, research and testing of unmanned marine systems and intelligent equipment.

CHINA CYBERSECURITY WEEK

In the run-up to China Cybersecurity Week, to be held from Sept. 16 to 22 nationwide, industry watchers said government agencies and enterprises are pushing forward personal data protection and welcoming regulation on data privacy.

According to the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, personal information protection will be one of the focuses and highlights of this year's China Cybersecurity Week. Enditem
