BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

LCD SCREEN PRODUCTION

China's first self-developed 8.5 generation TFT-LCD panel, or thin-film transistor liquid crystal display panel, rolled off the production line Wednesday in Bengbu, east China's Anhui Province, paving the way for mass production.

An 8.5 generation TFT-LCD panel, with a length of 2.5 meters and width of 2.2 meters, can produce six screens of 55 inches, according to its manufacturer, the Bengbu Glass Industry Design and Research Institute of the China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd.

WORLD INTERNET CONFERENCE

China will hold the sixth World Internet Conference in October in the river town of Wuzhen in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, according to the Cyberspace Administration of China.

The conference will run from Oct. 20 to 22, with the theme of "Smart, connectivity, openness and cooperation: jointly build a community of shared future in cyberspace."

HUAWEI AI TRAINING CLUSTER

Huawei on Wednesday launched Atlas 900, a super fast AI training cluster, at its annual Huawei Connect conference in Shanghai.

Hu Houkun, deputy chairman of the Chinese tech giant, said Atlas 900 is the "world's fastest AI training cluster," which combines the power of thousands of Ascend processors, and can handle models in seconds that used to take several months to train. Enditem
