NANJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Customs authorities in the city of Changshu, east China's Jiangsu Province, said Thursday that they seized two piranha specimens from a Norwegian boat that entered China.

Officers of Changshu Customs recently found two piranha specimens in the luggage of a Philippine crew member on the Norwegian boat. The crew member bought them in Brazil, according to an investigation.

Piranhas mainly live in the Oriloco and Amazon basins of South America. With sharp teeth and a hard jaw, the species is fierce and aggressive, and can even attack large animals and people.

Animal specimens are banned from entering China. Enditem
