Taiwan's RMB deposits rise in August

TAIPEI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The renminbi-denominated deposit balance of Taiwan's financial institutions increased to 266.4 billion yuan (about 37.2 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of August, according to the island's monetary authority.

The figure was 1.09 billion yuan higher than at the end of July, rising for the second consecutive month.

Of the total deposit balance, 232.72 billion yuan is under the island's 65 authorized banks, while an additional 33.7 billion yuan is under 57 offshore banking units.

The amount of RMB settlements handled by the Taipei Branch of the Bank of China in August 2019 was 529.5 billion yuan. Enditem
