GUANGZHOU, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are shows and exhibitions available in Guangzhou in the coming week:

Vanity: Stories of Jewellery in the Cyclades

Date: Sept. 24. 2019 - Feb. 16. 2020

Venue: Guangdong Museum

Introduction:

The Cyclades is one of the origins of ancient Greek civilization and the cradle of Aegean art and culture. This year, 297 pieces of jewelry from the Cyclades will be shown at the Guangdong Museum for the first time. This exhibition will take us from the Cyclades islands in 6,000 BC to Greece in the 1970s. Through colorful murals, gold and precious stones, religious ornaments and clothing parts, we can experience the changes of the Mediterranean civilization and find the source of inspiration for the creation of modern and contemporary jewelry in the west.

Vienna Boys' Choir

Date: Sept. 25

Time: 8 p.m.

Venue: Xinghai Concert Hall

Introduction:

With a history for more than five centuries, the Vienna Boys' Choir is one of the world's most famous boys' choirs. It is the symbol of Austria, along with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. During the Guangzhou's performance, they will sing On Wings of Song, We are the world, I love you China and other famous Chinese and foreign songs.

Anna Karenina by St. Petersburg Eifman Ballet

Date: Sept. 26 - 27

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Opera Hall, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

Boris Eifman's ballet Anna Karenina is a true burst of inner psychological energy and is amazingly precise in delivering emotional impact upon its viewers. By setting aside all secondary storylines in Leo Tolstoy's novel, the choreographer focused on the love triangle "Anna - Karenin - Vronsky". The brilliant technical mastery of the dancers and Boris Eifman's astounding choreography present to us in a remarkably impressive way all the aspects and peripeteias of the Tolstoy's novel.

Beyond Sin by St. Petersburg Eifman Ballet

Date: Sept. 28 - 29

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Opera Hall, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

The Beyond Sin ballet is a new choreographic interpretation of Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov. By having fundamentally rethought and reworked his own earlier world renowned production The Karamazovs of 1995, also based on this timeless masterpiece of Russian literature, Boris Eifman created an emotionally rich and full of philosophy psychodrama ballet.
