BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

DISCOVERY ON MOON

China's lunar rover Yutu-2, or Jade Rabbit-2, discovered an unidentified substance in an impact crater on the far side of the moon. The discovery was made during Yutu-2's ninth lunar day of exploration on the moon.

The ground controllers designed a driving route for the rover to allow it to conduct scientific detection to the depth of the impact crater and the distribution of the ejecta.

BEIJING SWIFTS

A recent survey has found that more Beijing Swift nests are located in modern buildings, such as flyovers, with no particular preference for ancient architecture as before, indicating that the birds are gradually adapting to urbanization.

The Beijing Swift is an iconic bird synonymous with the capital city since ancient times. The migratory birds were usually found nesting in high buildings with eaves such as city gatehouses and imperial garden buildings. They can be seen at the Forbidden City, the Lama Temple and the Summer Palace from mid-April to July every year.

China sent a new satellite into planned orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gobi Desert on Wednesday.

The Yunhai-1 02 satellite, launched on a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 8:54 a.m. (Beijing Time), will be mainly used for detecting the atmospheric and marine environment and space environment, as well as disaster control and other scientific experiments. Enditem
