BAGHDAD -- A total of three Iraqis were killed Saturday in an Islamic State (IS) attack on a security outpost in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, a local official and a security source said.

The incident took place in the early hours of the day when the extremist IS militants waged an attack on a border guard's outpost near the village of Mikhas at the edge of the city of Khanaqin, some 165 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Mikhas Mayor Burhan Ahmed told Xinhua. (Iraq-IS)

DAMASCUS -- As many as 145 Syrians have been killed across Syria since February by the explosions of landmines and explosive devices from the war leftovers, a war monitor reported Saturday.

One-third of the deaths were women and children and the death toll could likely rise due to the number of wounded people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Landmine Explosions)

RABAT -- Some seven Moroccan migrants have drowned after their boat sank off Morocco's coast on Saturday, local media reported.

The bodies of the seven, including one woman, were found early in the morning on the beach of Ain Harouda, near Casablanca, the official news agency MAP said. (Morocco-Migrants)

TUNIS -- The second round of Tunisia's presidential election will take place on Oct. 13, said Mohamed Tlili Mansri, a member of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), on Saturday.

"Officially, the vote of the second round of the presidential election will take place on Oct. 13, and the date of Oct. 6, date of legislative election, is no longer valid," ISIE official told Xinhua. (Tunisia-Election) Enditem
