TAIPEI, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- About 45 percent of those employed in Taiwan have used online food deliveries as the sector saw fast growth on the island, according to a recent survey.

The survey, conducted by the 1111 Job Bank, a job service website in Taiwan, found that the respondents spend an average of 733 new Taiwan dollars (23.61 U.S. dollars) on food delivery each week.

About 10 percent of the respondents are heavy users who order food online at least five times a week, while 43.5 percent order twice to four times a week.

Most of the respondents cite reasons such as convenience and flexibility, as well as zero or low delivery costs.

Daniel Lee, general manager of the public affairs department of the 1111 Job Bank, said the demands from a large number of employees in cities like Taipei have contributed to the hike in online food delivery expenses.

The survey also showed that nearly 40 percent of the respondents have intentions to work in the food delivery sector, mostly as a part-time job, citing reasons such as flexible time arrangements.

The survey was conducted from Sept. 12 to 24, during which the website received more than 1,100 completed questionnaires. Enditem
