TUNIS, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia's Islamist party "Ennahdha" (Renaissance) ranked the first in Tunisian parliamentary elections by winning 17.5 percent of the vote, said a survey on Sunday.

The survey was released by the Tunisian company Sigma Conseil and broadcast on Watanya 1.

The Heart of Tunisia party comes the second with 15.6 percent.

Its president Nabil Karoui, who is in prison for suspicion of money laundering, is a presidential candidate for the second round.

The survey revealed that the Free Destourian Party (the Free Constitutional Party) ranked the third.

According to the representative of Sigma Conseil, the margin of error of this exit poll varies between 1 and 2 percent.

Meanwhile, head of the Independent High Authority for Elections Nabil Baffoun announced that the turnout in the legislative elections that ended this evening reached 41.32 percent in the Tunisian territory.

The polling centers for the parliamentary elections opened on Sunday in 24 provinces of Tunisia.

More than 15,000 candidates from different parties, party coalition and independent candidates were competing for the 217 seats in the Assembly of People's Representatives. Enditem
