TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Iran opposes any possible military operation by Turkey in Syria.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said that after a U.S. decision to pull its forces out of Syria, Iran "is following worrying news about possible entrance of Turkish forces into Syria." (Iran-Turkey-Syria)

ANKARA -- Turkish army has completed all preparations for a military operation in the east of Euphrates River in Syria to establish a safe zone, Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The establishment of a Safe Zone/Peace Corridor is indispensable for Syrians to have a safe life by contributing to the stability and peace of our region," the ministry said on Twitter. (Turkey-Syria)

ADEN, Yemen -- Forces loyal to Yemen's government on Tuesday achieved progress in fighting against the Houthi rebels in the southern province of Dhalea, a government official told Xinhua.

"Several military sites located in the northern parts of Dhalea near the central province of Ibb were seized by the pro-government forces after hours of fighting," the government source said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Fighting-Gov't Forces)

CAIRO -- The leaders of Egypt, Cyprus and Greece on Tuesday condemned Turkey for its "unilateral" and "provocative" measures to conduct offshore drilling in disputed waters in Eastern Mediterranean.

At a press conference following a tripartite summit in Cairo, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades criticized Ankara's "unilateral" and "unacceptable" acts and "blatant infringement" on his country's sovereign rights and international laws by drilling in areas claimed by Nicosia.
