DAMASCUS -- Turkey officially started its military campaign against Kurdish forces in northern Syria on Wednesday, Syria's state TV reported.

The Turkish campaign started by shelling the positions of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Ras al-Ayn area in the countryside of the northeastern province of Hasakah, said the TV. (Turkey-Military Operation)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) chief commander on Wednesday hailed the "achievements" of the Islamic republic in the defense sector despite U.S. sanction pressures, Tasnim news agency reported.

DAMASCUS -- At least eight civilians were killed and 20 others wounded on Wednesday by Turkish shelling on Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.

SANA said that three children and a woman were among the killed by Turkish artillery shelling on the city of Qamishli, and the towns of Ras al-Ayn, and al-Darbasiyah in the countryside of Hasakah, which is largely controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and its broader umbrella of the People's Protection Units (YPG). BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi Wednesday said that he will ask the parliament on Thursday to vote for a cabinet reshuffle as part of his reforms following a wave of anti-government protests over unemployment, corruption and lack of public services.

In a televised speech, Abdul Mahdi said that "we will ask the Council of Representatives (Parliament) to vote on cabinet reshuffles on Thursday," and will issue within hours a list of senior officials to the courts for charges of corruption. (Iraq-Reshuffle) Enditem
