CAIRO -- A suicide bomber was killed on Thursday as Egyptian security forces thwarted a terrorist attack on a checkpoint in Arish, North Sinai province, Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

ADEN -- Yemen's government condemned on Thursday the Turkish military operation in Kurdish-controlled areas in northern Syria.

ANKARA -- Up to four civilians, including a child, were killed and 70 injured in Turkish border towns by mortars and rockets fired from Syria on Thursday, local officials said.

"A nine-month old Syrian national and a civil servant working at the local tax office have been killed" in mortar and rocket fire that hit border towns of Akcakale and Ceylanpinar, a statement of the governor's office of the southeastern province of Sanliurfa said. (Turkey-Syria-Operation)

BAGHDAD -- A total of 10 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed on Thursday in an operation by the Iraqi security forces in the central province of Salahudin.

Acting upon intelligence reports, a joint force from the Iraqi army, police and paramilitary Hashd Shaabi units conducted an anti-IS operation in the village of Smeilat near the town of al-Shirqat, some 280 km north of Iraq's capital Baghdad, said a statement by the media office of the Joint Operations Command.
