BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's health news from the past week:

--China vows to ensure medicine supply, maintain stable prices

China will strengthen monitoring of the supply and prices of drugs in shortage. A guideline issued by the General Office of the State Council said a supply monitoring mechanism will be established to enhance coordination between multiple information platforms. The information concerning the registration, production, procurement and prices of the drugs' raw materials will be shared through the mechanism.

-- Chinese enjoy greater geographical flexibility in utilizing medical insurance

Chinese people who seek treatment in places where their medical insurance accounts are not registered have enjoyed greater convenience in reimbursing their costs.

A total of 3.18 million interprovincial medical bills have been settled since 2016 when the country allowed patients to use their medical insurance cards for medical treatment in designated hospitals and settle the bills straight away irrespective of the locality, according to the National Healthcare Security Administration.

-- China records lower inpatient mortality rate

China's inpatient mortality rate has fallen from 1.1 percent in 2005 to 0.44 percent in 2018, according to the National Health Commission. The mortality rate of hospitalized patients with acute myocardial infarction decreased from 6.12 percent in 2014 to 5.02 percent in 2017. Enditem
