BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.56 percent at 2,991.05 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.17 percent lower at 9,671.73 points.
Combined trading volume of stocks in the two indices contracted to 459.1 billion yuan (about 64.93 billion U.S. dollars) from 535.1 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Digital currency and integrated circuit sectors led the losses, with shares of Shenzhen Asia Link Technology Development Co., Ltd. plunging by the daily 10-percent limit to 9.6 yuan per share.
Bucking the trend, pork and animal vaccine producers were among the winners. Kweichow Moutai Co., Ltd. saw its shares expand by 2.63 percent to 1,211 yuan per share.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.1 percent to close at 1,660.89 points. Enditem
