Taiwan's renminbi deposits drop in September

TAIPEI, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The renminbi-denominated deposit balance of Taiwan's financial institutions dropped to 264.95 billion yuan (about 37.5 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of September, according to the island's monetary authority.

The figure was 1.46 billion yuan lower than a month earlier, the data showed.

Of the total deposit balance, 233.05 billion yuan was under the island's authorized banks, while 31.91 billion yuan was under offshore banking units.

The total value of renminbi settlements handled by the Taipei Branch of the Bank of China in August was 342.4 billion yuan. Enditem
