NANNING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Briton Dan McLay of EF Education First on Friday clocked three hours 44 minutes and 54 seconds to claim stage 2 of the 2019 Gree Tour of Guangxi in Qinzhou.

For the 152.3km stage from Beihai to Qinzhou, Sep Vanmarcke (EF Education First) and Jerome Cousin (Total Direct Energie) initiated an early breakaway, reinforced by Laurens de Vreese (Astana Pro Team).

The leading trio reached a maximum advantage of two minutes and 30 seconds after 40km over the peloton led by UAE Team Emirates and Bora-Hansgrohe.

Vanmarcke forged on by himself in the last 10 kilometers before the inevitable sprint finish. McLay launched it from far out and Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) was boxed in with 150 meters to go.

It's McLay's second win this year after stage 1 of the Herald Sun Tour in Australia in February. The Gree Tour of Guangxi is already a nice farewell to his team EF Education First as he'll return to Arkea-Samsic next year.

After the second stage, Pascal Ackermann became the winner of red, blue and white jerseys, as the overall individual leader, best sprinter and the best young rider respectively.

Martin Guillaume (Wanty-Gobert Cycling Team) took the polka dot jersey for the stage's best climber, and Vanmarcke was awarded the "most active rider".

The third stage of the Tour is a level-road circle race in the city of Nanning on Saturday. Enditem
