Sailing opening rounds postponed due to weak wind at Military World Games

WUHAN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The opening rounds of the 470-class sailing at the 7th Military World Games, originally scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday, were further postponed to Saturday due to the lack of winds at East Lake in central China's Wuhan.

All sailors for the women's and mixed 470-class contests waited till the starting time passed on Friday, before venue organizers canceled the race.

According to ground rules, the 470-class sailing contest requires stable winds with a velocity of at least five knots at the racing courses, while there was only occasional light breezes at East Lake on Friday and Saturday.

Nine teams will compete in the women's 470 class race while 11 team will fight for the mixed 370 class race gold. Enditem
