BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng on Friday met with overseas delegates to the first sustainable development forum.

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, which demonstrates the great importance China attaches to sustainable development, Han said.

As the biggest developing country and a responsible major country, China has unswervingly promoted the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, and made great achievements in poverty reduction, increasing people's income, health care and education since its reform and opening-up more than 40 years ago.

China will make unremitting efforts to implement the agenda, coordinate economic and social development, and actively participate in international development and cooperation to contribute more to the creation of a more brilliant future for mankind, Han said.

Jorge Chediek, UN secretary general's special envoy and director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, and some other delegates to the forum spoke at the meeting. Enditem
