BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are a selection of shows available in Beijing in the coming week:

Alphonse Mucha:Pioneer of Art Nouveau

Date:Oct. 19 -- Dec. 8

Place:East Exhibition, National Centre for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

The exhibition is one of the important cultural events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Czech diplomatic relations. To be showcased at the exhibition are 244 valuable exhibits including the posters, decorative sheets, book illustrations, oil paintings, photographic works, Art Nouveau furniture, clothes, jewellery design, glasses and ceramic works designed or created by Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). The most important exhibits are some of the most representative works created by Mucha in Paris, where he lived for a dozen years.

Le Rouge et le Noir: L'opera Rock

Introduction:

Le Rouge et le Noir: L'opera Rock, a French musical, is adapted from Stendhal's novel Le Rouge et le Noir. The rock opera of the same name features Julien Sorel's ambition and failure, as well as his two loves, exhibiting extensively the social atmosphere brought about by successive governments that oppressed the French people in the early 30 years of the 19th century. In 2016, the first edition of the French musical quickly became a hit in France after its premiere in the Paris Palace Theatre. With adaptation, the world-class novel from the 19th century is presented to the audience in a whole new manner with less seriousness and more rhythm and catering to the young.

Anna Karenina

Introduction:

The play Anna Karenina is directed by Aleksandr Vladimirovich Galibin, a famous actor and director, and adapted from the world-renowned Russian novel Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. The novel has been screened many times and adapted into dramas for major theaters around the world.
