SANYA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- A direct air route was launched Wednesday linking Sanya, a popular beach resort in south China's Hainan province, and the city of Tomsk in Russia.

The flight, operated by Russia's JSC Taimyr Airline, will fly on every Tuesday. The air route is expected to boost the business and tourism exchange between the two cities.

Sanya so far has connected flights with 28 countries and three regions, according to Wu Haifeng, deputy mayor of the city. The city will open more international air routes and develop more tourist products, to make Sanya an international tourist destination, Wu said. Enditem
