BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key culture news from the past week:

-- Exhibition on overseas Chinese opens

An exhibition opened at the National Museum of China to mark the contribution that overseas Chinese made to the motherland.

With over 270 items on display, the exhibition features the stories of prestigious figures among returned overseas Chinese, including patriotic philanthropists, scientists, and entrepreneurs.

-- Performances showcase Chinese opera education achievements

A series of performances began in Beijing to showcase achievements in traditional Chinese opera education.

Commonly seen operas including Peking opera and Kunqu opera, as well as some rare genres such as Xi opera and Shao opera, will be featured in the performances, according to the China Education Federation of the Arts.

-- Taiwan, mainland dance groups to perform in Beijing

Taiwan's Cloud Gate dance group and the mainland's Tao Dance Theater are to jointly stage performances at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

The Cloud Gate troupe was choreographed by Lin Hwai-min, founder and choreographer of the group, and Tao Ye, choreographer and founder of the Tao Dance Theater. Dancers will perform a work choreographed by Cheng Tsung-lung, artistic director of the Cloud Gate troupe. Enditem
