BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The following are the key moves taken by policymakers in the past week to enhance China's economic strength and sustainability:

-- An action plan on strengthening manufacturing design capabilities

China on Tuesday released a four-year action plan on strengthening its manufacturing design capabilities amid a shift from the "Made in China" model to "Created in China."

Key targets for the 2019-2022 period include developing an open design platform for equipment manufacturing, and enhancing the design of special-purpose or special-environment equipment as well as key parts of high-end equipment, according to the plan unveiled by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 12 other departments.

-- A guideline to better use foreign investment

China will roll out a guideline to better use foreign investment with a focus on safeguarding the national treatment of foreign-funded enterprises.

The guideline, which was adopted in principle at an executive meeting of the State Council held on Oct. 16, puts forward 20 policies in four aspects to create a more "fair, transparent and predictable" business environment for foreign-invested enterprises, said Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Wang Shouwen Tuesday.

-- A plan for building a demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta

The State Council on Tuesday approved a plan for building a demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta on ecologically friendly development.

The plan was mapped by the National Development and Reform Commission and will involve the local governments of Shanghai Municipality, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, according to a statement on the government website.

-- Bans on selling e-cigarettes

Chinese authorities on Friday stepped up bans on selling e-cigarettes to minors as well as online sales and ads of vaping over health and safety concerns.

The State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) jointly released a notice aimed at further reducing minors' exposure to vaping products and strengthening supervision of the industry. Enditem
