BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- "Midway," an American war film centering on the 1942 Battle of Midway, is set to hit theaters on the Chinese mainland on Friday, Nov. 8, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.
The Battle of Midway, a clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy, marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
The film, based on real-life events, tells the story of U.S. leaders and soldiers in the battle.
"Midway" is directed by Roland Emmerich, who is widely known for his blockbuster disaster films "Independence Day," "Godzilla," "The Day After Tomorrow" and "2012." Enditem
