ALGIERS, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Thursday said that President Kais Saied will visit Algeria within the next few weeks, the Algerian state radio reported.

"I came here with a message of friendship and amity from Tunisian President Kais Saied to the Algerian people and leadership," Chahed told reporters following talks with Algeria's interim president, Abdelkader Bensalah.

The Tunisian premier said he handed a message from Saied to Bensalah, which underscored the importance of the "strategic and deep-rooted Algerian-Tunisian relations."

Chahed highlighted the need to continue joint efforts to deal with the challenges facing the two countries, including security in the region.

"Security coordination between the militaries in Tunisia and Algeria is continuing on a daily basis," he added. Enditem
