1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended lower Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.49 percent, at 2,964.18 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.22 percent lower at 9,895.34 points.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two exchanges stood at 449.4 billion yuan (about 64.3 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 398.9 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 890 to 488 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,292 to 758 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the sectors of wireless headset and consumer electronics saw robust growth in share prices, with shares of Yingtong Telecommunication Co.,Ltd. rising 9.15 percent to close at 36.63 yuan per share.

Shares in the industries of animal vaccine, digital currency and banking led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.25 percent to close at 1,711.22 points Friday. Enditem
