BEIJING/TIANJIN, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Global aircraft producer Airbus said it is maintaining a long-term partnership with the Chinese aviation industry and eyes a rosy future for the fast-growing market.

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury told Xinhua the company enjoys doing business with partners in China because of the friendly aviation ecosystem.

The international traffic to and from China has nearly doubled over the last 10 years. According to the Airbus Global Market Forecast, China is expected to require some 7,560 new aircraft over the next 20 years.

"More and more people are flying, (and) there is a lot of potential for flights in and outside of China. Airbus is happy to contribute to the connectivity of China," he said.

Airbus said in a press release that it had signed a memorandum of understanding on the further development of industrial cooperation with the Chinese side on Wednesday in Beijing.

Both sides agreed to take practical and effective measures for new initiatives regarding both Airbus single-aisle and widebody aircraft, the press release said.

A joint venture of the A320 final assembly line was set up in Tianjin in 2008. It is Airbus's third final assembly line location for single-aisle aircraft and the first outside Europe.

The project has been a great success, Faury said, adding that the company is anticipating a bright future because "growth is probably unlimited for aviation in China."

To date, 450 A320 family aircraft have been delivered from Tianjin to Airbus's Chinese and Asian customers. The assembly line remains on track to ramp up its production to six aircraft per month by the end of 2019, which is a 50-percent increase compared to its original design.

Meanwhile, A350 XWB capabilities will be extended into the Airbus Tianjin Wide-body Completion and Delivery Center from the second half of 2020. The center is scheduled to deliver its first A350 widebody aircraft by 2021 from Tianjin, according to the press release.

Faury said Airbus has localized more activities such as fuselage equipping and will continue to grow its production and assembly in Tianjin.

He said the development of the aviation industry needs an open environment, and Airbus welcomes the increasing connections and closer relationship between China and the rest of the world, especially Europe. Enditem
