BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key technology news from the past week:

AUV TESTING

China has tested a new autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for monitoring the marine environment in the South China Sea, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The AUV, Haijing 2000, was developed by the Shenyang Institute of Automation under the CAS. It has continuously traveled for 37 days during the sea trial covering more than 2,000 km, which verified its long endurance and system reliability.

LIQUID-COOLED PROCESSORS

China's Alibaba is seeking large-scale deployment of a self-developed liquid-cooling technology on the processors in its data center prior to the arrival of the Double 11 shopping spree Monday.

The new tech launched Thursday by Alibaba Cloud, the cloud service provider under Alibaba Group, is a special liquid coolant whose function is similar to soaking Alibaba's numerous processors in cool water.

It is part of Alibaba's efforts to promote a more environmentally friendly annual online sales promotion, according to the company.

E-GOVERNMENT

China has seen e-government apps incorporating a wide range of government and public services mushrooming across the country.

With the latest big data, AI and 5G technologies, access to city services is expected to become easier as the country develops smarter ways to run its cities in the process of urbanization. Enditem
