NANJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of eleven suspects involved in cross-border telecom frauds have been repatriated from Vietnam and arrested by police in east China's Jiangsu Province.

These people joined a Taiwanese-led gang between April and May, traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, and engaged in fraudulent activities that targeted at residents in the Chinese mainland, said police in Hai'an city, Jiangsu, who investigated the case.

The suspects allegedly identified themselves as the Chinese bank staff in telephone calls to the victims, telling them that they had gone over their credit card limit. The calls were then transferred to the Taiwanese suspects who claimed they were law enforcers of the mainland and swindled the victims out of their money, according to the police.

Vietnamese police captured the eleven suspects and extradited them to the Jiangsu police in August.

The local procuratorate in Hai'an has approved the arrest of the suspects, the police said. Enditem
