1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.64 percent, at 2,891.34 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.01 percent lower at 9,647.99 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 401.1 billion yuan (about 57.23 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 387.8 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,202 to 239 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,718 to 396 in Shenzhen.

Companies in electronic sports and rare earth sectors posted strong performances, with stocks of Hubei Century Network Technology Inc. surging by the daily 10-percent limit to close at 13.7 yuan per share.

Shares in the industries of digital currency, cultivation and wireless headset led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.05 percent to close at 1,674.78 points Friday. Enditem
