BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key technology news from the past week:

DENTURE MATERIALS

Scientists have developed denture composites that can coexist harmoniously with human teeth by combining exceptional elasticity and hardness, according to a study paper published in the journal of Advanced Materials.

The available synthetic dental materials in zirconia ceramics have a hardness that is 20 times higher than human tooth dentin and accelerate the abrasion of the neighboring and opposite tooth. They generally demonstrate relatively poor damage tolerance.

UNMANNED SAILBOAT

China has successfully tested an unmanned sailboat for monitoring marine environment, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The sailboat named Hai'ou, meaning seagull, was developed by the Shenyang Institute of Automation under the CAS. It showed good performance in course control, position keeping and path tracking in the sea trial conducted in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong Province.

REMOTE-SENSING SATELLITES

Five new remote-sensing satellites were sent into planned orbit from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province Wednesday.

The five Ningxia-1 satellites were launched by a Long March-6 carrier rocket at 2:35 p.m. (Beijing Time). Enditem
